How To Use FracLac

For details of how to acquire, install, and start FracLac, see http://rsbweb.nih.gov/ij/plugins/fraclac/FLHelp/Introduction.htm.

Once you start running FracLac, you will see a panel of buttons and options. You can use the options to do several things such as change settings, launch a fractal modeling application or load the built-in help in a browser. How to use the buttons to set scans up or run scans is explained briefly below.

How To Set Up A Scan

When a scan button is clicked in FracLac, this dialog (holding the help window you are reading right now) appears. The first time any scan type is selected, the dialog is loaded with default options for that scan type. The default values are designed to work for some typical scans, but may not be appropriate for all images or purposes, so some options may need adjustment. Once you adjust options for a particular scan type, every time you reload the scan type your adjustments will automatically be reloaded. To reset the defaults, close and restart FracLac. Click here to see how to save and load custom settings.

To customize the options, start at the top of this dialog and work your way down through the options—options higher up in the panel generally affect those lower down. The options enabled will be those that are available for the particular scan type selected. The guidelines below outline how to use this window and the components on the dialog.

How To Use The Dialog And Help Window

This panel dynamically displays Help for FracLac. As explained below, when you click on or hover over text in this file, you may see references to highlighting components on the FracLac panel. Those references are pertinent to when you are actually using FracLac so will not highlight anything when you are reading this in a browser outside of FracLac. To use this Help in FracLac:
